Alawathugoda village is the main section(Under Village) of Sri Wijayawardanaramaya Temple. There are several sub villages at Under this temple. The location which the temple situated at also known as Alawathugoda. About 350 people lives in Alawathugoda Village. There are no any government recourse available at Alawathugoda. The Polling Center of all sub villages under Alawathugoda Village is the temple it self.

       Inside this under village there are three shops available to buy small items. Need to travel Bogahakumbura which is as 1Km away from Alawathugoda village to buy more items. Those shops identifies as villagers created aliases. Those are Poddege Kade, Heen Mamage Kade and Kunduwage Kade. In Earlier there were some shops but those are not alive at present. Half of Alawathugoda village covered with jungles and forests. There is a nice waterfall at Alawathugoda village called Diyawatanaella. Majority of people of Alawathugoda are farmers and some government employers also available. Major cultivation of Alawathugoda farmers is Potatoes.
